2018年6月、音楽コミュニティレーベル「BINDIVIDUAL」の立ち上げをきっかけに、Julia Shortreed、Utena Kobayashi、ermhoiの3名で結成。2019年1月にミニアルバム『Agate』を発表し、同年8月にはFUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '19 RED MARQUEEステージに出演。2020年11月には1stアルバム『SILK』をリリースし、その後も国内外で活動を展開。2023年にはMUTEK.JPへ出演、2024年にはベルリンで初の海外公演を成功させた。2026年4月には、約5年半ぶりとなる最新アルバム『Sepia』を配信リリース。

Formed in June 2018 following the launch of the music community label BINDIVIDUAL, Black Boboi consists of Julia Shortreed, Utena Kobayashi, and ermhoi. The trio released their debut mini album Agate in January 2019, followed by an appearance on the RED MARQUEE stage at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '19 that August. In November 2020, they released their first full-length album SILK and have since continued to perform both in Japan and internationally. In 2023, they appeared at MUTEK.JP, and in 2024, they gave their first overseas performance in Berlin. In April 2026, they released their latest album, Sepia, their first full-length release in approximately five and a half years.
